COMPANY PROFILE: Our client is a consulting engineering and sciences firm with a local and global market.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Their Vancouver office is currently seeking a senior Rock Geotechnical Engineer with at least 10 years of experience in design of open pit slopes. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing geotechnical engineering services to the mining industry with a primary focus on open pit stability.The candidate will manage and design several projects mainly to the level of conceptual / scoping, pre-feasibility and feasibility. The candidate must have experience with the main aspects of design of open pit slopes, such as kinematic analyses to define potential failure modes, limit equilibrium stability analyses, numerical modelling to investigate rock mass deformation and stress conditions, evaluation and design of remedial measures of pit slope failures, geotechnical mapping to define the structural characteristics of the rock mass, geotechnical drilling, logging and core orientation to characterize rock mass parameters, plus other relevant mining and rock engineering experience.
In addition to managing projects and providing technical direction to project engineers, the individual will be expected to establish and maintain client relationships, and work in a team environment. This position requires strong networking and communications skills, and sound interpersonal capabilities are therefore essential.
QUALIFICATIONS: Qualifications:
•Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Geotechnical, Civil or Mining Engineering
•A minimum of 10 years of relevant engineering experience in open pit slope design and rock engineering
•The ability to establish and maintain solid client relationships
•Demonstrated leadership and project management experience
•Must be registered, or is eligible to register as a professional engineer or geoscientist in the Province of British Columbia, as well as other provinces
•Preferably, experience working in a consulting engineering environment at an intermediate and senior project management level
•Strong people skills and an ability to work in a team environment
